The AMATEUR BOAT BUILDERS ASSOCIATION of WESTERN AUSTRALIA (ABBA) is
a group of home boat builders building in timber, aluminium, fibreglass
and other materials. About half the members currently have projects
under way, ranging from dinghies to ocean going yachts and historic
rebuilds. Others have either completed boats or are restoring classics.
Evening meetings involve a guest speaker on a relevant topic. They
are held on the FIRST WEDNESDAY of every EVEN month (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug,
Oct & Dec) at South of Perth Yacht Club. Members are asked to
arrive from 7.30 pm for an 8.00 pm start. Visits to members projects or
other events of interest also take place bi-monthly, usually on a
Saturday afternoon.
A bi-monthly newsletter is emailed to all members. It chiefly reports
on the previous two months activities and advertises future events. It
is timed to arrive just before each evening meeting.
The ABBA website (ABBA.org.au) is continually updated with this and other information.
ABBA welcomes all new and prospective members - hopefully we can all share advice, techniques and other information.
To join, just come along to a meeting or contact one of the committee members for more details.
